SEBAGO joins as Monhegan Title Sponsor
We are excited to announce our new title partnership with SEBAGO for the 2025 Monhegan Island Race. As we start looking ahead to our 100th anniversary in 2028 we are thrilled to have another partner who shares our enthusiasm for boating and the Maine coast! Here is what SEBAGO has to say about our partnership.
SEBAGO has been outfitting mariners and sailors in Maine throughout our nearly 80-year history, and as the creator of Maine’s iconic maritime footwear, SEBAGO is honored to sponsor Maine’s premier sailing event, the 94th Monhegan Island Race. For almost as long as this race has been held, SEBAGO has spread our Maine heritage, values, and our footwear across the globe, but we always come home for what’s most important: being on the water and celebrating our passion for sailing in New England. At SEBAGO, we are so pleased to share our commitment to tradition and quality with this classic event and look forward to being a part of it this summer—on deck, dockside, and as a proud sponsor.
This past year, we bid farewell to our former CEO, Daniel J. Wellehan, Jr.—an avid sailor, leader, and Mainer, who devoted over 40 years of his life leading and shaping SEBAGO and who passed away last December. So, in honor of Captain Dan, we wish all the crews and mariners good fortune and fair weather in this year’s race.
SEBAGO has sailed the waters of New England since our founding over 75 years ago. It’s our passion, it’s our heritage, and to celebrate this year’s Monhegan Island Race, all boats & crew who opt in will receive a 35% discount at Sebago-usa.com. Your discount code will be provided prior to the race, so if you need something new for the race or dockside after, we’ve got you covered.
Registration is open for the 2025 Monhegan Island Race and Segun Sprint. You can sign up online at RMS, get the NOR, and check out the photos and videos from last year on our website. Have a memory from last year to share? Share it to in collection!
What we expect this year:
Great sailing and competition on the classic Monhegan bluewater course.
Amazing sights along the coast of Maine with shooting stars, lighthouses, whales and more!
A wicked fun party to kick off the adventure with live music, good food and tasty drinks.
A warm reception (with pizza and beer!) when you finish at PYC.
A delicious brunch with music, awards presentation and plenty of stories!
New for this year:
We are combining the skippers meetings for both courses into one meeting to be held before the big Monhegan Party on Thursday night.
No more rounding cards. We will expect all boats to visually confirm roundings, but do not need times submitted to the RC.
Finish line location adjustment - we are adjusting the finish line out from shore to avoid the wind hole that appears at Fort Williams during the overnight.
Finish times will be taken from the YB trackers and verified with onboard GPS.
Live music during the awards brunch.
Crew waivers will be done through the Regatta Management website, which we hope will make it easier to get this task done before you show up to check in. You add the crew who are participating and then can see which crew has finished the waiver.
