Records Matter - Who is the fastest!
While the Monhegan Island Race and its iterations have had many record holders we are starting from scratch in 2020. The Monhegan Island Race Committee and Race Officials will be keeping detailed records on this website for years to come. Courses will be set for at least five years and the plan is that they won’t change for many years to come.
There are many reasons for past course changes. The organizers have studied the area thoroughly and have tried to minize potential course disruptions. Many government marks have been retired in recent years. Now with the ability to have accurate tracking and GPS coordinate marks we will not longer have this issue.
The event will follow the rules of the World Sailing Speed Record Council for offshore courses.
We will record and publish the results and records on this website as well as submit to the WSSRC so they can publish them on their website.
We will also publish verified records using the WSSRC rules for non-race time attempts in the same classes and courses mentioned below. This means you can set the record when you want to attempt it - on your own time and your own weather window. You must register with the Monhegan committee 1 month before your attempt. See additional details on the Official Notice Board for other requirements.
Records will be accounted for the following courses and classes:
Monhegan Island Race
Fully Crewed Monohull
Fully Crewed Multihull
Double-handed Monohull
Seguin Island Sprint

Fully Crewed Multihull
