Ratings and Scoring
Monhegan Island Race
As this is the longer course (approximately 141 NM) targeting the more dedicated offshore racing teams, the Monhegan Race Committee Requires a valid PHRF-NE certificate for this years event. To apply for a PHRF-NE rating you can go to either https://www.gmora.org/ or http://www.phrfne.org/
The race is scored using Time on Time scoring. This is a system that takes into consideration the amount of time spent on the course rather then just the distance. It is used in most longer distance races. For more information read about it here.
Monhegan boats are divided into classes based on PHRF ratings, these class breaks will be determined the week before the event to give the best competition possible. Doublehanded boats may race in their own division or within the racing classes. Multihulls generally sail the Monhegan course.
